We work surrounded by the forests, rivers and coastline we help protect. For us the environment isn't an abstract idea. It's home.
Out here you notice things. Wildfire smoke drifting in over the summer. The rivers and what lives in them. The coastline after a big winter storm. You start to see how much of it depends on people upstream, up the road and out of sight making careful choices.
The photo at the top of this page is a forest after a wildfire, already filling in with fireweed. To us, it's a picture of recovery: things go wrong, and with time and some care, they come back. We think about environmental work in organizations the same way.
Here's what we've found after auditing many organizations: most of them genuinely want to do right by the land and water. They just don't know what applies to them. Environmental rules in Canada come in layers, federal, provincial and municipal, and it's easy to miss one. That isn't a moral failing. It's a map problem, and maps are something we can help with.
The idea of meeting today's needs without short-changing future generations has been around for decades. ISO 14001 simply turns it into everyday habits.
"Most organizations want to do the right thing. They just need someone to show them what applies, kindly and clearly."

What that looks like for you
For most organizations, environmental care comes down to being a good neighbour. Know how your work touches the air, water and land. Know your obligations. Be ready if something spills. Then keep improving, a little at a time.
We'll help you sort out what matters and what doesn't, with honest findings in plain language and no finger-wagging. The first steps are usually simpler than people expect.
